This swing bar door guard adds a supplementary layer of security to hinged entry doors. Finished in satin nickel, it lets you open the door slightly to check who is calling, take in a delivery or speak to a visitor while the guard stays engaged as a barrier.
The design uses a ball and keeper interlock to help stop the door being forced open when the guard is engaged. An auxiliary thumb turn lock blocks the common release methods used to disengage standard swing bar locks. The thumb turn also has a controlled breakaway feature: it releases when roughly one hundred pounds of force is applied, so emergency personnel can gain access if needed. After activation, the unit continues to work as a traditional swing bar door guard.
Three stackable one-eighth inch door shims are included to help with alignment on doors with varying offsets, and all necessary mounting hardware is supplied. It is a practical addition alongside your existing lockset for homes, apartments, flats, student accommodation and rental properties.
