It is designed to add a layer of security to sliding doors and windows by securing onto the top or bottom rail with a screw-in fitting. The position can be adjusted, so you can set the opening width to suit the season or your usual household routine.

The lock can be fitted at the top of the door, where it sits neatly against the door frame, or at the bottom, where it can be operated with a push rather than by bending down. In an emergency, pressing the button releases the lock straight away. It can also be used where a pet door has been installed in a sliding glass door, where the original lock can no longer be used, as well as on AC unit window setups and as a camper lock replacement. The low-profile design keeps it fairly discreet compared with a door security bar.
